FU MANCHU: New EP Artwork Revealed
November 7, 2006The cover artwork for the new FU MANCHU EP, "Hung Out To Dry", has been posted at CMDistro.com. The 3,000-copy, limited-edition CD — to be released Nov. 28 — can currently be pre-ordered for $6. The artwork was designed by John McGill, who first collaborated with FU MANCHU on their 2004 release, "Start The Machine". McGill will also design the cover art for the band’s forthcoming studio album, which will be released in February.
Co-produced by the band members themselves, the "Hung Out" EP will be released in a unique dual format nicknamed "The Deuce," in which a 7" vinyl single and a four-track compact disc will be packaged together in a gatefold seven-inch sleeve. It will include two songs from the band's forthcoming tenth studio album and two others exclusive to the EP — an original song titled "Never Again", and a cover of VAN HALEN's "D.O.A."
"We worked on the new songs in the shack that's on the cover of the 'Hung Out' EP," says founding guitarist Scott Hill. "We could turn up as loud as we wanted to — always a good thing when working on new stuff. We had a clear view of the ocean while we were practicing, and the calm ocean was a great contrast to what we were writing."
Next Monday (Nov. 13),FU MANCHU will premiere the EP's title track on their MySpace page. Three nights later, in their first performance in nearly a year, the group will debut new material from both the "Hung Out" EP and their as-yet-untitled new full-length at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, Calif.
